La Novia (The Bride)
La Novia (The Bride)
The Bride is from the series "Los Enamorados (Brides & Grooms)", an examination of the work of José Guadalupe Posada.
She is preserved for eternity in a French " globes de mariée". Based on the French glass cloche of the 19th century, they were originally used to protect the delicately constructed clocks of the period. These glass domes were later used to exhibit the relics of a family. Given to newlyweds on their wedding day to display the brides crown, the cloches were thereafter filled with different memorabilia such as the first locks of hair from children, heirlooms and family trinkets. Every cloche was displayed in a prominent place and exhibited the individual family history from birth to death.
This one of a kind work of art is signed by the artist and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
